New scheme guidance for claims managers

Comcare has released two new scheme guidance publications to assist claims managers in applying the provisions of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act).

Independent medical examinations
- The power to require a medical examination under the SRC Act – provides guidance on the section 57 power to require an independent medical examination under the SRC Act.
Initial determination
- Definition of injury and disease – provides guidance about the important distinction between the injury (other than a disease) and disease definitions of the SRC Act.
