Presentations that featured at the events are detailed below.
This session gave participants an update on industry trends, emerging issues and the progress of various Comcare projects and initiatives. As we begin working toward new national OHS laws, this presentation gave participants the overarching information relating to the upcoming Work Health and Safety Act – due to come in effect 1 January 2012.
Queensland Rail embarked on a journey to improve its safety culture through an integrated campaign aimed at changing attitudes and opinions; and ensuring safety was visibly apparent in all facets of their business.
Participants heard how Queensland Rail’s employees, their families and wider community were exposed to the real facts on workplace injury, all based on real stories and hard-hitting safety messages.

The larger and more diverse an organisation’s workforce, the more difficult it can be to maintain an effective safety culture and sustain focus on strategic objectives.
Tony Bradford, Managing Director of Centre for Corporate Health explored the leadership and cultural norms in organisations, coupled with behavioural patterns and how these styles can assist in building a productive workforce through influencing and empowering.

This session gave participants the opportunity to explore and examine short case studies that looked at organisational strategies to influence, implement and measure safety culture. Participants shared approaches that aim to cultivate safe and productive workplaces and build a sustainable and healthy organisation.
